What Is TE²?

The Youth 2 Adulting Teen Earnings & Expense Program (TE²) is an experiential, home-based coaching and mentoring experience designed for teens ages 13–18. It provides a repeatable framework that allows teens to engage in responsibility-driven activities that are fully defined by parents. Its core purpose is to help young people begin building the confidence, habits, and practical mindset needed for a smoother transition into adulthood.

Rather than simply explaining concepts, TE² guides teens through real-world–inspired simulations that allow them to practice responsibility, decision-making, and personal ownership in ways that feel relevant and age-appropriate. The program emphasizes learning through experience, helping teens understand how their actions, effort, and follow-through connect to real outcomes.

TE² is intentionally flexible, allowing parents to tailor the experience to their teen’s developmental needs and the goals they want to reinforce at home. Each TE² license covers one Participant for one program year within a household. The TE² Program is designed to support growth over multiple years; however, annual renewal is always optional and determined by the family.

What Makes TE² Unique?

The TE² Program offers a collaborative and personalized experience that blends structure with flexibility within the safety of a supportive home environment. Parents remain actively involved, providing guidance and consistency while teens are given space to practice increasing independence in a setting designed for learning, not punishment.

Through participation, the program helps reinforce:

  • A strengthened sense of responsibility and accountability

  • Practical time management, planning, and goal-setting skills

  • Self-reliance, discipline, and follow-through

  • Awareness of how individual contributions support the household community

Designed for Growth

While each TE² Core License covers one program year, TE² is intentionally designed as a multi-year program to support your teen’s development as their responsibilities and independence naturally evolve. But renewal is always optional. Some families may complete a single year of TE², while others choose to renew annually as their teen matures. Afterall, the experiences and responsibilities of a 13-year-old are likely to be very different than that of a 17-year-old. For example:

  • A 13-year-old’s program might focus on basic household responsibilities and simple discretionary expenses.

  • A 16- or 17-year-old’s program may expand to include expenses tied to real-world privileges, such as driving — including fuel, insurance, or routine maintenance.

This flexibility allows families to adapt TE² over time while maintaining a consistent framework that grows alongside their teen.

At its core, TE² creates a structured home environment where teens take on age-appropriate responsibilities that simulate real-world experiences. TE² is designed as a shared experience where parents provide structure, clarity, and encouragement, while teens contribute effort, engagement, and growing ownership over their responsibilities.

Rather than focusing on lectures or rules, the program emphasizes guided practice. Teens connect their effort, choices, and habits to meaningful outcomes, while parents remain involved as coaches and decision-makers. Over time, this balance helps teens build confidence, accountability, and practical decision-making skills in a way that feels realistic and relevant to everyday family life.

While the program includes structured tools to support participation, the true strength of TE² comes from the ongoing conversations, adjustments, and collaboration between parent and teen.

No lectures. No live sessions. Just guided, real-world practice at home.

How the TE² Program Works

Designed to Support Parents at Home

Even with the best intentions, parents often find themselves repeating the same conversations — and struggling to move beyond constant reminders. TE² offers a structured way to shift responsibility gradually, while keeping parents actively involved and supported.

Rather than relying on informal expectations or ongoing negotiations, the program provides parents with a clear framework they define and control. Responsibilities are visible, expectations are explicit, and any consequences parents choose to use can be designed to simulate real-world cause-and-effect outcomes teens may encounter in adult life.

TE² is also designed with flexibility in mind. If your teen’s program needs adjustment, the program’s structure allows parents to do so easily—without starting from scratch.

For many families, TE² becomes less about “teaching lessons” and more about establishing steady patterns that support growth, accountability, and more constructive conversations at home.

Within the TE² Program, teens take an active role in managing the responsibilities defined by their parents. Rather than being told what to do or reminded repeatedly, teens are invited to participate in a system that encourages personal effort and ownership.

Through hands-on participation, teens gain opportunities to:

  • Earn and manage resources

  • Plan, organize, and navigate responsibilities

  • Experience accountability and natural consequences

  • Build confidence through self-directed responsibility

  • Develop a genuine sense of achievement

The goal isn’t perfection or immediate mastery. TE² is intended to give teens space to grow more comfortable navigating their responsibilities over time.

What Teens Actually Do

What’s Included

A parent-facing resource that helps organize information and support oversight using familiar tools, making it easier to guide and adapt the experience over time.

  • A customized TE² Physical Kit (Teens)
Hands-on materials designed to support participation, organization, and follow-through as teens manage their responsibilities at home.

  • Access to the TE² Digital Training Library (Parents and Teens)

The TE² Digital Training Library is a core part of the program, providing step-by-step instruction that helps parents and teens understand how to use the TE² materials effectively.

When designing the TE² Program, we intentionally chose tools that support real engagement, real interaction, and real follow-through.

Each TE² Program purchase includes a one-year, single-participant household license and a set of integrated program components designed to support both the parent and the teen throughout the experience:

The TE² Program is intentionally designed to support a teen’s development over multiple years, though renewal is always optional and determined by each family.

While these materials provide structure, the true strength of TE² comes from the ongoing conversations, shared experiences, and collaborative guidance between parent and teen. Together, these elements help the program integrate naturally into everyday family life.
